Uu-! Hi everyone..! Today Maria and Beato have a question for everyone!

[ Maria is practically as cheery as ever when she waves at the camera - except she's not alone right now, there's someone sitting there with her, and she turns to that person with a smile as if urging her to speak on.

Beato waves too, as excited about this as ~~HER TINY ONEESAN~~ Maria. ]

We thought of this some days ago, while watching the people in the tea house. You all come from very diferent places, are we wrong? I can only imagine how many wonderful stories you all have!

And so we want to hear e-verything about you and your world! [ she's just fistpumping here now, look at all this double excitement. ] Uu-, so everyone, please tell us your stories, okay? Beato and Maria re-ally want to know!

What about stories that make you smile? I love those kind of stories!

Hmmm... how about the story of the founding of Equestria? We usually save that one for Hearth's Warming Eve, but that's not celebrated here.

[Now she's REALLY curious.]

Equestria? What is that?

Equestria is the realm I live in. It's a place ruled over by the great and wise Princess Celestia, and more recently her younger sister Princess Luna. It's a realm where Unicorns, Pegasi, and Earth Ponies live together in harmony!

[UNICORNS PEGASI AND PONIES WHAT IS THIS MAGIC ~~IS IT FRIENDSHIP~~????]

It sounds incredible...! You live with all those fantastic creatures?? How do they look like??

[IT IS THE BEST MAGIC ~~SO YES, TOTALLY~~]

I am one of those "fantastic creatures". I'm Twilight Sparkle, a unicorn. Or at least I was until Johto got ahold of me. As for how we look, well... unicorns are a little like a Rapidash, only smaller and... softer looking, I guess. Pegasi have wings instead of horns, of course, and Earth Ponies don't have either, but they make up for it with their strength and stamina, and a bond with the earth. The Princesses have all three.

Ah... I've never met an Unicorn before! This is a most wonderful situation!

[She looks like she's about to explode from excitement...]

Please, Twilight Sparkle, tell me your story! I'm sure it will be one worthy of a spiced black tea and vanilla cupcakes!

Oh, well... thank you. I'm really nothing that special back home, but I'm glad meeting me could make you happy.

[Lies. Modest, modest lies.]

Um... you mean the story I was about to tell you, or my own story? I think the Founding would be more interesting.

The Founding one!

Alright then.

It starts many, many years ago, back when the ponies all lived in three tribes. The Pegasi, Unicorns, and Earth Ponies were all separated from each other, brought together only for trade and the like when one tribe couldn't provide everything for themselves. Things lasted this way for many, many years, the rifts between the three tribes only growing larger and nastier as time went on...

Until one day, things started to change. Separation from each other had allowed hatred to grow in the ponies' hearts. The unicorns were resented for their power of magic. The pegasi for their control of the weather. And the earth ponies for being the only tribe that could grow food properly. Each of the tribes looked at what the other two had, and grew jealous, bitter and hateful. And as the resentment grew, so too did something else. A great and terrible snowstorm began to descend on the lands of the ponies, killing the food they ate and making things even harder for everyone.

Each of the tribes blamed the others for what had happened. The earth ponies believed the pegasi were causing the storms with their control of the weather. But the pegasi denied it, citing the unicorns and their magic. The unicorns were affronted by this, and argued vehemently back that this was not their fault either. With none of the tribes willing to claim responsibility, the snowstorm only grew more and more terrible.

Finally, it was decided to send the leaders of the three tribes to a great summit meeting to try to find a solution to the problem. The daughter of the ruler of the unicorns, Princess Platinum. The leader of the pegasi, Commander Hurricane. And for the earth ponies, the elected Chancellor Puddinghead.

...and? What happened then? Could they stop the snowstorm??

No. The meeting was a disaster. Each of the leaders blamed the others for what had happened, none could determine a plan to stop the terrible snow, and in the end, they left with nothing but an even deeper hate for each other.

Finally, each of them returned to speak with their top advisers, the unicorn Clover the Clever, the Pegasus Private Pansy, and the Earth Pony Smart Cookie. After a brief conversation with their seconds, each of whom were very disappointed to hear how the summit had turned out, they decided to abandon their old homelands and search for a new place to live.

And so all of the tribes of ponies headed for a new home. They traveled for a long time, no tribe aware of the others, until finally they all arrived at a new land.

... The same new land.

You mean.... they reached the same place? The three tribes were together again?

Normally people would say 'at the beginning', right, uu-...

[ she's pondering this for a few momens though. ]

How about a funny story?

A funny story? Hmmm...

Well, just about anything with Pinkie Pie in it would count for that. How about the time she saved Ponyville from a Parasprite invasion?

[Hey, it was funny in retrospect, once everything was rebuilt.]

Sure, Maria wants to hear that story..! [ a giggle. ] What are Parasprites like?

Imagine a tiny little ball with big adorable eyes, the cutest little wings and an adorable smile...

And now give it an incredibly voracious appetite and a desire to eat everything in sight.

E-eat everything..? [ her eyes grow wide. ]

Uu-, but that's a bad thing..! You can't eat everything!

And that, I'm afraid, is precisely the problem. When Fluttershy found one of the little creatures out in the wild, it was so cute that she absolutely had to bring it home with her. On the way back, it replicated itself twice, so there were three of them. She ended up giving one to me and one to another friend of ours.

Unfortunately, we didn't quite understand what we were getting into. See, when Parasprites eat enough, it gives them enough energy to reproduce. They literally spit up more of them. In no time at all, we had dozens of the things flying around, and that's when things started getting really bad.

Of course things would get bad, uu-.. Maria gets it, if there were a lot of them around, they would start to eat all the things! There wouldn't be anything left at all!

Exactly. And that's very nearly what happened.

But throughout the whole thing, Pinkie Pie had been gathering up musical instruments. A trombone, a tambourine, an accordion... we didn't know why, so we kind of brushed her off and kept trying new and crazier ways of getting rid of them. I even ended up casting a spell to try to keep them from eating the food... so they started eating other things instead.

Things were looking pretty grim, and we were all running out of ideas, when finally she came marching through the middle of town, playing all the instruments at once. It sounded like some sort of one-pony polka band.

And the weirdest thing was, all the Parasprites started following her.

They.. followed her, uu-? Why would they follow her..?

... Is it since they liked the music?

I have to assume that's what it was, since there certainly wasn't any other reason. She lead them right out to the Everfree forest and sent them off, and we haven't seen a single one in Ponyville since.

So then after that whole fiasco was taken care of, we apologized for not taking her seriously and went back to the town...

Which needed a lot of fixing up at that point.

That's a really interesting story.. Maria should remember that if she ever sees any of them, they like music, uu-! Then it won't ever get as bad for Maria as it was for you..!
